Lord, in Your Mercy, hear our Prayer

Petition to be inserted into the Prayer of the Church:

Lord God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces, especially those serving in Afghanistan. Protect them from all danger and harm; give them a loyal and courageous spirit, and may they serve for the maintenance of order and peace. Lord, in your mercy,

O Lord of hosts, stretch forth your almighty arm to strengthen and protect those who serve in the armed forces of our country, especially those stationed in Afghanistan. Shelter them in their mission and keep them from all evil, giving them courage and loyalty and grant that in all things they may serve honestly and without reproach. Lord, in your mercy,

Almighty Father, we entrust to you the men and women of our nation's armed forces, especially those serving in Afghanistan. Be their strength in times of danger and make them bold to trust in you through life and death. Uphold their families who wait their safe return, and comfort those whose sons and daughters have been killed in conflict. Lord, in your mercy,

For the armed forces of our country, especially for those who serve in Afghanistan that God would watch over them as they struggle to bring stability and calm in that country, let us pray to the Lord.

For the men and women of our armed forces, especially those who serve in Afghanistan, that God would protect them and give them courage to face the perils which confront them, and give them honest and faithful hearts to carry out their duties with diligence and compassion, let us pray to the Lord.

- OR -

For those who serve in the armed forces of Canada, especially those stationed in Afghanistan, that our gracious heavenly Father would grant them courage to perform their duties well, shield them from harm and temptation, and be with their loved ones who must wait at home, let us pray to the Lord.
