Lutheran Church–Canada Elections

Rev. Dr. Ralph Mayan was elected to a third three-year term as president of the 80,000-member Lutheran Church-Canada. Serving with him in the next three years will be Rev. Dan Rinderknecht, (Stony Plain, Alta.) First Vice-president, Rev. James Fritsche (Winnipeg, Man.) Second Vice-President and Rev. Robert Krestick (Waterloo, Ont.), Third Vice-president.

Elections continue today to elect a board of directors under Synod's new structure. The board will comprise 12 members: the president, three vice presidents, six lay people (one may be a deacon) and two pastors serving congregations. The district presidents serve in an advisory capacity. Other elections under the new structure include Boards of Regents for LCC's two seminaries and university college, the Commission on Theology and Church Relations, and the Commission on Adjudication. The only mandated committee under the new structure is for mission and social ministry which the Board of Directors will appoint.
