Rev. Allen Maleske responds to resolution discussion at the 2008 LCC convention
KITCHENER, Ontario – The president of Lutheran Church–Canada’s East District, Rev. Allen Maleske announced to the district’s Board of Directors that he will not seek re-election at the district’s 2009 convention. The 66-year-old president was first elected in 2000 and has served three three-year terms. The 2009 convention is scheduled for May10-13 in Windsor Ontario.
During his tenure, President Maleske spearheaded a major fund-raising drive in celebration of the District’s 125th anniversary. Funds donated are used for special outreach projects, including the development of Lutheran schools. As president, Rev. Maleske also sought to help the pastors and congregation members understand what it means to be Lutheran by asking the District convention to establish a series of doctrinal unity conferences, which conclude in 2009.
All district congregations are eligible to submit nominations for the president. Those receiving sufficient nominations will be asked to let their names stand for election.
