The newly-elected President Robert Bugbee addressing the LCC convention.
Rev. Robert Bugbee officially assumes the office of the President of Lutheran Church–Canada on Monday, September 1.
Rev. Bugbee leaves Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener, Ontario where he has served since 1994. Prior to accepting the call to Kitchener, he served congregations in London and St. Catharines, Ontario and Albertville, Minn.
Until housing is settled, the new president will work from Kitchener, connected to the LCC offices in Winnipeg through the Internet. “Having a virtual office in another part of the country is seamless,” explained LCC’s director of communications Ian Adnams. “He is connected to our computer network, and will be in constant contact through messaging programs, telephone and e-mail service.”
Adnams worked this way for two years from Edmonton, and Rev. Dr. Ralph Mayan, LCC’s interim mission executive will work from Vancouver using the same technology.
President Bugbee’s installation, along with the installation of the Board of Directors is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, in Kitchener. To accommodate the expected attendance, the Vespers Service will be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church (ELCIC) at 6:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at Historic St. Paul’s across the street.
