Do you know Easter’s real meaning?

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Rev. Robert Bugbee, LCC president, explains the true meaning of Easter in his YouTube video, Good news from the cemetery.

WINNIPEG — Hint: It’s not really about chocolate bunnies and coloured eggs.
Easter’s true meaning, in fact, is explained in a YouTube video and a website page produced by Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC).

The Winnipeg-based church launched the campaign March 23 as part of Operation Holy Week.

A recent survey by the Barna Group found 58 percent of Americans didn’t know what Easter means, and LCC suspects the numbers aren’t too different in Canada.

To shed some light on the matter, Rev. Robert Bugbee, LCC president, explains the true meaning of Easter in his YouTube video, Good news from the cemetery.

LCC is also running an ad on Facebook.

It asks readers, “Have you ever wondered What is Easter?”
Readers click on the ad and are taken to www.whatiseaster.ca. The site answers the question and invites readers to remember Good Friday and celebrate Easter at an LCC congregation.

This year, Good Friday is April 2 and Easter Sunday is April 4.
LCC comprises more than 320 congregations from British Columbia to Nova Scotia.
